A Gem in the Oil – Rice Bran Oil
Time:2021-03-26
Rice bran oil is one of the three health-promoting oils recommended by the World Health Organization.
Why is it called “a treasure among oils”? Because every kilogram of rice bran oil is distilled from the essence of 150 kilograms of paddy rice, concentrating the grain’s nutritional power to an exceptionally high level. Hence its nickname: “a treasure among oils, the gold of grains.”
The World Health Organization has ranked sesame oil, rice bran oil, and corn oil as the three best edible oils. So what are the differences among these three oils?
First, in terms of culinary use, “sesame oil” is best suited for seasoning rather than cooking. “Corn oil” is ideal for cold dishes; heating it can degrade its nutritional content. “Rice bran oil,” on the other hand, can be used both in cold preparations and for cooking, and it can even be consumed directly, making it a more versatile choice for everyday cooking.
